Sarkozy

This morning in the car I was listening to NPR news as they reported on the French election, complete with interviews with people talking excitedly about how their new president will turn France around.

After the report I changed stations. The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again" was just starting. This seemed strangely appropriate.

In case you're not familiar with the song, Wikipedia explains:
"Won't Get Fooled Again" is about a revolution. In the first verse, there is an uprising. In the middle, they overthrow those in power, but in the end, the new regime becomes just like the old one ("Meet the new boss, same as the old boss").

A good point and probably true, though as Bill Mahr pointed out last night you have to hand it to the French. In a country where 83% of the people vote they must be doing something right. To paraphrase, "You couldn't get 83% of American's to get off the couch if there was an election between big tits and bigger tits and they were giving away free samples."

Too true. (plus all that other useful stuff they get right as a nation).

Yeah, I don't mean to pick on the French. It's just that the juxtaposition amused me.

I actually quite enjoy this song about Sarkozy. Granted, it's in French and I had to use Babelfish to translate, but I love reggae. Essentially it says, "Sarkozy, you're a dick and a hypocrite, 'cause your dad was a Hungarian immigrant. Plus, you're racist."
