*Sigh* This is why no major political figure can ever have a real opinion or personality. Any *real*, non-vague position they take is offensive to someone, and someone is bound to tear them apart over it. What I really wish we could do is better educate the voting public. I'm tempted to make up pamphlets: "Ignore the critical assholes' spin of the message, and actually LISTEN to what the person is frikkin' trying to say!"

That much is old though. What's new here is that even a *mid-level* staffer isn't allowed to have *ever* said something that might be interpreted as offensive to someone.
