Toe Jam

Well, the weather seems to have answered my call for something less wintery, at least for now. I just hope I can get out of work before dark today.

On the other hand, I may not be able to do much in this especially-nice weather today anyway, since I appear to have a broken toe. I stepped wrong in the shower Saturday, heard a crack, and felt a pain strong enough that at first I couldn't even tell exactly which toe was injured. It became obvious later when my second toe on the left started turning black.

My first thought was that I'm not allowed to get injured until Wednesday, when I have health insurance again. But I guess there's not much that a doctor can do for a broken toe anyway. So I'm just trying to keep it as protected and immobile as possible. No more barefoot-around-the-house for me for a while.

At least it doesn't hurt much now.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that.

When I thought I broke my toe, I called my 24 hour nurse line, and they essentially said there wasn't much a doctor could do. They suggested keeping the toe buddy-taped to the next toe for up to ... I think it was 4 weeks, not sure. And as long as there weren't any red streaks up the toe or it felt cold, that'd probably be fine.

Hope you get better soon!

Whoops

Whoops, didn't realize I wasn't logged in. That last comment is mine.

4 weeks

The taping sounds like a lot of trouble, but I'll definitely watch for red streaks and cold.

Yeah, I have broken a toe before...they don't do anything for you at the Doctor....they just say to keep it sorta taped up...but that's about it. Skip the medical expenses and DIY. ;-)
