Funk Babblings

I was pretty much out of commission this week with what we're guessing was a bout with salmonella, probably related to the power outage. Apparently not all the places we ate at afterward had thrown out all the food that had ended up unrefrigerated.

In starting to return to the daily routine, I kept being struck by signs that while I was away, summer had sneaked away and autumn had sneaked in. In the morning it's too dark to be time to get up, and in the evening it looks near bedtime long before it is (although the difference during the week was only about 10 minutes at each end). It's now cool enough for jeans and shoes, no longer quite warm enough for shorts and sandals. And even some of the trees are showing signs of starting to turn colors.
