I noticed when I was filling a water barrel yesterday (and had noticed before when filling buckets) that the water from the outside spigot runs only intermittently. It would run for about a minute, then no water for about twenty seconds, and so on until the dry spells were close to a minute long. I thought maybe the well was running dry. If you noticed me out there turning the water on and off a lot, that's why. I'd shut off the valve, wait 'til I could feel the pressure build up again (it vibrates slightly as it's filling), then turn it on for about five or ten seconds until the water stopped, then I'd turn it off and repeat. Once I had about 30 gallons, I got tired of waiting a minute for a five second burst of water. Is it doing that inside, too?

We were having a lot of pressure problems like that a few weeks ago, but haven't really noticed much of that lately. Argh.

Yes, it does that inside, too. It appears to be a problem with the pressure tank (the water from the well goes to the pressure tank before heading out to the outside hydrant). Gah. Sorry about that.
