Today's little updates
- Wed 2:34pm Will pay a significant chunk of what my car is worth to get it fixed; it's not really worth much otherwise, and I still owe too much on it. #
- Wed 2:39pm Car companies seem to have phased out small cars around a decade ago, and are just now talking about bringing them back. New car in a year? #
- Wed 8:02pm wondering if anyone's weekend plans include a screening of "2010: The Year We Make Contact". Wondering if mine should. #
Today's little updates
- Tue 9:17am Impressed w/Apple's Touch->iPhone gateway strategy. is.gd/5FxK9 Wonder if there'll be a viable Android answer to the Touch. (Archos?) #
- Tue 9:22am Of course, for us while the iPod Touch led to wanting more, it also led to wanting Android rather than iPhone. I doubt we're typical though. #
- Tue 10:10am glad I remembered the good (well, better) laptop speakers today. #
- Tue 1:43pm Started exploring downtown tunnels to escape the cold. But so far only found four connected buildings including the statehouse. #
- Tue 9:27pm Kept seeing people tweeting about "NYE". Had to Google it. Feeling dumb now, but amused by the search results. #
Today's little updates
- Sat 10:33pm Always fun to see a band that's graduated to big stages play on a 10-inch stage in a bar again. #
Today's little updates
- Wed 10:12am wishing I'd brought my good laptop speakers to the office today, since there's nobody else here. #
- Wed 11:02am discovered that there's now a huge library of Chrome browser extensions. Twitter Intersect is a nice one for Twitterers. is.gd/5yQax #
Today's little updates
- Tue 10:40am just might have finally gotten Yahoo to deliver my mail -- after adding SPF, DKIM, and DomainKeys. #
- Tue 2:40pm Why I have a bit more trust of Google, imperfect as it is, than of Apple or Microsoft: "The meaning of open" is.gd/5xCkC #
Today's little updates
- Mon 10:10am started and finished my shopping this morning thanks to Amazon and my sister's suggestion of no gifts for adults this year. #
- Mon 10:12am (she actually said "no adult gifts", but I don't think she quite meant what that sounds like.) #
- Mon 10:18am According to wunderground.com, today in Cols will be 9 hours 19 minutes long, and tomorrow will be a whole second longer. Happy Solstice! #
- Mon 6:33pm Did not make it to the Columbus Ruby group meeting in time to get a seat. #
- Mon 9:13pm Also missed out on non-meaty food at the meeting. Made it tough to listen or converse coherently. Finally getting dinner now! #
Today's little updates
- Fri 11:53am Yesterday: read about area codes to find invalid ones. This morning: reading about exchanges. Exchanges more interesting / less validatable. #
- Fri 5:57pm Why did nobody tell me there was a radio dramatization of The Long Dark Tea-Time Of The Soul? is.gd/5sSsM #
- Fri 6:06pm Also a radio series of the first Dirk Gently book! ....but I can't find that on CD.... :-( #

Downloadable concerts
I recently discovered that NPR has quite an extensive rock/pop/folk music section on their website. This includes the weekly show All Songs Considered, which I haven't listened to much but seems sorta like a more-NPR-sounding version of Sound Opinions.
But the really cool part is that they have downloadable recordings of full concerts, including:
Metric
(The) Gossip
Moby
... among others that I'm still exploring.
Oh yeah, and NPR provides podcast links to all this music, in seemingly endless permutations.
(By the way, Carrie Brownstein of Sleater-Kinney is part of the NPR music staff, which is especially amusing when she's covering the Gossip show as a reporter/fan and Beth Ditto gives her a shout-out from stage as an inspiration.)
Oh, and just because this song came on after I listened to the Gossip show, I have to add that no matter what the haters say, Courtney Love rocks.

Today's little updates
- Mon 7:59am had no coffee over the weekend and woke up with a headache today. Time to fend off the addiction again. #
Today's little updates
- Fri 5:57pm amazing how much faster I can do things onscreen after replacing a 6-year-old video card with a new one. #
Today's little updates
- Tue 8:59pm amused that Spamassassin considers my mail from "President Barack Obama <democraticparty@democrats.org>" to be spam. One reason: bad font. #
- Wed 8:07am wondering if the coming wind will shut everything down for days like it did last fall..... #
- Wed 2:44pm ♻ @headius: Holy crapoly! There's finally going to be a Tron 2.0 movie! is.gd/5h7cT #
Today's little updates
- Mon 8:51am We live so far out in the country that we even have to go into town to find snow. #
