Here comes Comfest!

The schedule for Comfest has been posted!

Friday through Sunday, June 23-25, I'll be in Columbus spending almost all my time in Goodale Park. Here are the parts of the schedule that currently have the most interest for me:

Fri noon-1 (Live Arts Stage) drum circle
Fri 2:30-3 (Live Arts Stage) Kate Weilnau (poetry)
Fri 7:50-8:20 (Solar Stage) Marcy Mays (ex-Scrawl)
Fri 10-11 (Bozo Stage) The Sun

Sat noon-1 (Gazebo Stage) Room Nineteen
Sat 1:30-2 (Solar Stage) Michelle Lundy (ex-Dogrocket)
Sat 4-5 (Offramp Stage) The Townsmen
Sat 6-7 (Bozo Stage) Watershed
Sat 6-7 (Jazz Stage) Circus of Cool
Sat 7-8 (Bozo Stage) Willie Phoenix Band

Sun 5-6 (Live Arts Stage) Poetry Slam
Sun 6-7 (Live Arts Stage) drum circle
Sun 6:15-7 (Offramp Stage) Red Dahlia

Obviously there are a couple evenings when I'll have to make a decision about what to do....

Update: I somehow missed Marcy Mays on the Solar Stage when I first looked at the schedule, and was surprised not to see some Scrawl presence. Too bad Manda And The Marbles are still missing; I think they're trying to figure out who their guitarist is. (Watershed and Willie Phoenix are others I'd be surprised to see absent from the schedule, but happily they're there.)

That's an interesting festival -- how long have you been going?

Hmm, good question. At least a decade; I definitely remember going in 1996 and 1997, but I'm not sure about before that. (I think my first year was the first or second year it was in Goodale Park.)

Since then I've missed a few because Pagan Spirit Gathering usually overlaps with Comfest weekend, and both events are "home away from home" for me in different ways. This year I decided to skip PSG because I was sick of missing Comfest.

Have fun. I'll be at my first PSG, I'm sure it will be fun too. I'll be sorry to miss ya though.

I predict that you'll have a wonderful time at PSG. I've actually been getting homesick for it.

I was going to be surprised...

That you know Kate, but then I remembered that you lived in the same dorm as her ex, "Lumpy"

I owe her an email...sheesh, she must think I hate her :(

Peace!

Did he live in Taylor? I don't remember knowing that. Maybe I did. I never saw him there though. I met her in a psych 101 class a few months before they got married, and we quickly became close friends.

I knew she knew you; didn't you go to some of her parties at her place on King Ave?

The more I think about it, he may not have lived in Taylor, but his best friend did (also a friend of mine).

Yeah, I think I hit one or two of the parties...she used to live very close to me (King/Neil back then)

Peace!

I'll be there in the 3CG booth for nearly the entire time. Drop by when you get a chance. :)
